TO PREPARING A GOOD RESUME

Don’t get too fancy with numerous fonts.  To
emphasize, use bold, italic and underline sparingly.

Concise is best. Keep your resume under 2 pages.
One page is best, especially if you only held a few
positions in your career.

Less is more. Do not include every task or duty
you have performed. Generalize enough to entice
the reader to learn more.

Include your grade point average (GPA) if it is
impressive and scholastic achievement such as
Dean’s List or Cum Laude.

Do not list the courses you took in school, just
your major and degree. If a course is unique or
very unusual, mention it in your cover letter.

It is not necessary to include the Community
College you went to if you obtained a four year
degree.

The statement, “References will be provided upon
request” should be omitted. It is a given and not
necessary.

Always include a brief cover letter with no more
than three short paragraphs. One for introduction,
one explaining why you are qualified for the
advertised position (if applicable) and one stating
you are would like to meet for an interview at a
convenient time.

Do not use overly-fancy paper or borders when
printing documents.

Proof, double proof and triple proof your  resume
and cover letter for spelling and grammatical
errors and omission.

preparer or prepare your own income tax
returns as early as possible to allow for
unexpected problems or issues that
might arise.
If necessary, file federal, state and
local tax extensions before the due
date. Remember, extensions
postpone the filing of income tax
returns not the payment of income
taxes due, so include with your
extensions all estimated taxes due.
